Week of Miracles

My District and I

No joke.  Also, my health is back completely!

So the other week I probably wrote about Yamila.  Anyway, she is doing so well!  We stopped by a couple days ago, and her family wanted to listen.  Her whole family.  They are a family of five and they are soooo nice.  They ask us questions, but at the same time, they seem to just understand everything the first time that we explain it.  I really can´t explain everything, but trust me, they are just really awesome.

Then yesterday, we had some pretty cool experiences.  We had plans to go see some people that lived really far away.  Well, about a half our walk.  Anyway, we always pray before we leave the apartment, and during the prayer, I got a feeling that said, "Go visit Ana y Jeremías."  They were a referral that I have NEVER met before.  So I ignored it.  We started walking and I just felt it stronger.  After we had been walking for a long time.  I finally turned to Hermana Tovar and said, "Hermana, you are going to hate me, but we need to go see a referral."  We turned around 180 degrees and walked the complete other direction.  After walking about 45 minutes or so, we got to the house.  We knocked (well clapped) but nobody was home.  We were about to go home, but then we saw a lady outside her house.  So we decided to ask her if she knew anything about Ana y Jeremías.  Turns out, it was her!  We just had the wrong address.  We talked to them for a long time!  Her mom is baptized and lives in Santa Rosa.  They proceeded to tell us that they are only here on saturdays and sundays because he works far away.  Good thing we found them this week because they would have been gone when we try again.  I don´t know where it will go, but it will be good.

The girls in my zone with Viviana.

Then the same thing happened that night.  We were walking to our usually sunday evening appointement with the familia Cruces.  We were walking past this lady and we said hello and kept walking.  La familia Cruces wasn´t home yet (which is pretty weird) but we just sat there.  Hermana Tovar then told me.. when need to go back to see that girl.  So we went back.  Turns out that she was baptized a long time ago, and is going through a lot of difficulties.  She has 5 kids and one on the way.  She was almost in tears when we came back.  We are meeting with her this week to talk about everything.

Randoms.
A couple of days ago, we heard a cat outside.  It´s an ugly thing (it´s even uglier now, but I will explain why).  It was a kind of creepy cat.  We ignored it.  Then, one day we woke up and the cat was starting to make weird weird noises.  It was kind of sad.  I don´t really know how to explain it.  To make the story short.. this cat died on our back porch.  The only way to get to our back porch is through the house too.  So yeah, that´s exciting.

My week was great and we are excited to be able to work.

The dead cat . . . yeah, we took a picture!

Taking the dead cat out to the garbage.  I put bags on my hands to use as gloves.

Three Weeks of Sickness

So this week was again another interesting week.  Even today.  In Argentina there are always random holidays and so the Cyber that we email at every week was closed, so we had to travel into Santa Rosa.  But when we got here, every single missionary from our zone was pretty much here so it´s been really interesting.

Also, I was still really sick this week and so I had to stay in bed all week.  It was awful.  Last Tuesday I thought that I was feeling perfectly fine and so I started up the work again, and then at lunch, the member pretty much told me that I still didn´t look very good so we had to go to the clinic in Santa Rosa to get an x-ray.  Don´t worry, I don´t have anything, but they sad that it just looked like I had gotten done having Pneumonia and that I shouldn´t leave the house or anything.  So my week was pretty boring, but hey, I finished all of the Gospel Library and I started reading the Book of Mormon from the beginning.  It really is beautiful.

Wednesday we had zone conference so that was really exciting.  We talked with Presidente y Hermana Parreño, they are so nice and understanding about everything that´s been going on.  I feel bad, my companion still doesn´t know the area too well because I have pretty much been on bed rest for the last 3 weeks.  But I think that I finally kicked whatever this sickness in the rear end so now we can go out and work.  Which believe me, there is a lot to be done in this area.

So pretty much the most exciting thing that happened to me is that I bought Peanut Butter.  They don´t have peanut butter in Argentina really.  I thought it was going to be 20 pesos, but it ended up being over 50 pesos.  So yeah, I just spent 10 dollars on a small jar of peanut butter that looks like baby poop.  But hey, it actually tastes like Peanut Butter.

I promise next week I will have something more exciting to write.  Also, I am so out of the loop with people right now.  It´s interesting.  Love you all, and I will see you in a few... hundred days!

Hermano Gabelo Speaks

So I was really sick this week everybody.  On Monday, I felt really sick, but it was not a big deal, and tuesday I felt awful.  We were in District Meeting and Elder Martinez was talking about something (I have no idea what) and then he stops and asks, "Hermana Vawdrey, are you feeling okay?  Because you do not look so good."  So later that day, la familia Gunther took us to the Doctor to see what was going on.  My lungs and throat sounded really bad, but he gave me some stranger pills and sent me on my merry way.  I could not leave the house for pretty much the whole week.  It was awful.  But now, we have a really clean freezer (because we chipped out ALL of the ice that had accumulated on all sides).  Needless to say it was pretty great. (sarcasm)

So Sunday was pretty awesome though.  I still was not feeling fantastic, but everything was okay, still.  But the part that I absolutely loved was Sacrament Meeting.  There is a family that we have been working with.. la familia Gabela.  Hermana Squire and I had a noche de hogar with them a couple weeks ago, and they have not missed church since.  To make it even better, Hermano Gabela gave a talk today!  In that talk, he talked about when the Hermanas came to his house to have family home evening with them, he started to remember everything he had learned previously and about his mission that he served.  He talked a lot about how things from the outside world attack our families.  It was so great to hear him say this stuff because at that time I was feeling really useless as a missionary.  But it was a little tender mercy to know that I was helping someone somewhere.

After Sacrament meeting, the stake patriarch asked me how I was doing, and he could tell that I was still struggling a little bit.  They gave me a healing blessing that was really powerful right after sacrament meeting.  It was the patriach, Hermano Galdame, and Leo Ortiz that gave me the blessing.  It really was really powerful, and it was really great to see Leo using and magnifying his priesthood because he has only had it for a week now!  But it really was awesome.  Anyway, since I did not work too much this week, I really do not have too much to say.

Peace out, chillens.

The Good, the Bad and the Awkward

Alright, where to start?  Yesterday was an amazing day. It was the confirmation of Margarita and a baby blessing for the daughter of a recent convert.  Margarita was so excited for this day.  She even put on lipstick because it was a such a special day!  After the confirmation, she was just so happy that she was crying because it was so special for her.  She is absolutely great!  We still have to review a lot of things because it doesn´t all quite stick in her head, but she is so willing to do everything that we ask her to do.  Then there was a baby blessing of baby emma.  When they walked in the church, we say Leo y Paola with their kids and Emma was in a little white dress with a little white headband, and Leo gave the blessing.  It´s really special because he was baptized about 3 months ago.  It´s just so great to see both of them progressing in the gospel so much!  I wish I had been here a little bit earlier to see his baptism and wedding, but I am glad that I get to be a part of this much.  It´s just so great to see two people who accepted the gospel and are progressing within in.  It really is fantastic and really special for us to see because we know how happy it really is going to make them!

Other fun and exciting things..  So to start off, I was pretty sick this week.  Fever all week long, and it was really difficult for me.  But last night, my companion and I were talking and I told her that I was done being sick, and I just want to go out.  She felt the same way because we have both been really motivated to go out and work lately.  So before we left, we said a heartfelt prayer to help us know where to go and who to talk to.  That´s when we met Yamila.  She is the most awesome person I have ever met.  She has never been to the church before, but she has a friend who goes to the church and knows that it´s a good thing.  She was visiting her Aunt and just went out to go get ice cream right as we were walking by.  I don´t know exactly what´s going to happen, but I think we have a good investigator who is ready and willing.

Also, being on the mission always has it´s awkward moments.  For example.. it is very clear that I am a foreigner.  We were headed to our district meeting last week, and we were talking to a few of the Elders at the bus stop.  Before anything was even said, one of the Elders turns to my companion and asks where she is from.. then he turns to me and just said, "and I know where you are from."  Something about Blue eyes.. nobody has them here.  ALSO, one of the ladies in the ward yesterday told me that her son is interested in me.  Thinking I didn´t hear correctly with my spanish, I asked my companion.  She confirmed... so that´s awkward.  Really though, the mission is full of awkward situations, but at the same time, it´s really fun.

So yeah, our companionship is going really well with Hermana Tovar.  I am helping her with her english and she is helping me with my spanish so it´s been pretty good.  We get along really well, and we both want to work really hard now.  So it´s been good, and I think that´s about all that I have to write for this week.  I hope that everyone is doing really well at home and having a lot of fun too!  Miss and love you all!
